On the nose, a dead ringer for Pinot Grigio. Very aromatic, with subtle floral elements and a whiff of perfume. On the palate, plenty of tangerine and spice and tropicality. Off-dry, long and luscious, with a touch of orange rind on the finish. Great with spicy foods.

Summer Solstice $13.99

Clean,  citric, herbaceous  nose. Round, spicy entry with lots of green apple peel and ginger. Stone fruit throughout. Long, tangy finish with a hint of grapefruit. Very fresh, and a great summer food wine.

Wild Rosé $13.99

Berryish nose. Strawberry fruit on the palate, with some candy-apple overtones. Earthy and juicy, with herbal elements, much like a Provence rosé. Leather and spice on the finish.h. A rosé built for food.

House Montage $21.99

Vanilla on the nose, along with new oak and blackcurrant. Very nice entry, with tons of acid and cushy mouthfeel. Layered and stylish. Very Rhone-like, with spice complementing the dark fruit. Long, brawny finish.

Doug Watling is a professional sommelier. He was twice a Canadian Wine Taster of the Year finalist. He is no longer active in the trade, but periodically writes and consults about wine, and hosts the occasional tasting.

Cranpagne $19.99

Fragrant, berryish nose. Very tight, focused palate with a persistent, fine mousse. Lots of spritzy lemon flavours to complement the subtle cranberry fruit. Clean, refreshing finish. A perfect aperitif but a fine food complement as welll.

Frontenac $17.99

Spicy, complex nose, with pepper and blackcurrants. Tight, structured palate with herbaceous elements, like a young Cabernet. More spice and blackcurrants in the mouth. Lengthy finish with structure carrying through to the end. Very stylish.

Marechal Foch $14.99

Subtle dark-cherry nose. Nice entry, with clean dark fruit predominating. Very chewy palate, with more cherry elements. Lots of hybrid vigour, with sour/wild elements adding character. Longish finish.

Late Harvest $15.99

Ripe on the nose, with Gewurz-like lychee elements. Elegant palate with peach fruit reminiscent of Sauternes. Silky palate, with lots of acidity to complement the richness. Long, peachy finish. Ideal with dessert or blue cheese

Te Ata Po $19.99

Fruit-forward nose with tones of black pepper. Juicy, chewy palate. Very mouth-filling and nicely structured, with substantial berry fruit poking through the tannins. Long, layered finish. A wine with a future.
